Frequently asked questions

How much does SysWard cost? +

SysWard starts at $1/agent/month. A free tier with 2 agents is available.

What counts as an "agent"? +

One agent = one Linux host you want SysWard to monitor and patch. Physical or virtual machine, container host, cloud instance — if it has its own package manager you control, it's one agent. Containers themselves are not counted; SysWard manages the host.

What happens when I hit the agent limit on the free plan? +

The 3rd agent's registration is rejected with a clear "upgrade to add this host" message. Your existing 2 agents keep reporting and patching normally — we never silently downgrade or stop scanning a host you're already monitoring. Upgrade to Business and the new host registers immediately.

Is there a self-hosted option? +

Yes. The SysWard Appliance can be deployed on-premises behind your firewall at the same price. Same features as the cloud product. No data leaves your network. Air-gapped deployments supported. See the appliance page.

Are there any contracts? +

No. SysWard is month-to-month with no long-term contracts required. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel any time from your dashboard.

Do you support sub-users? Is there an extra charge? +

Yes — invite as many users to your organization as you need. There's no per-seat charge; pricing is per-agent only. Sub-users get their own 2FA, audit-logged actions, and a temporary-password invite flow.

How does SysWard handle security? +

2FA available on every user account. All traffic is SSL/TLS-encrypted. Passwords are bcrypt-hashed. The agent is open-source so you can audit what it sends. We never store credentials for hosts — the agent runs locally and reports out, no inbound SSH from us. See our security page for details.

Where is my data stored? +

Cloud: the SaaS product runs in U.S. data centers; agents only send package inventories and host metadata, never the contents of files or environment variables. Self-hosted: all data stays on the appliance VM in your environment — we have no visibility into it.

What payment methods do you accept? +

Credit cards via Stripe and PayPal. We don't process payments on our own servers, so your card details never touch us.

What is your refund policy? +

Contact [email protected] and we'll refund recent charges — no scripted runaround.
